Welcome to Weighted Blanket Reviewer.

Our Story

Our son, who has ADHD and an anxiety disorder, has also been dealing with insomnia for much of his life. He’s not a morning person either, so a good night’s sleep is essential for him to function properly at work in the daytime.

One of the things we found to help him with his sleep issues is a weighted blanket. It’s made a big difference to his quality of sleep.

The product we chose is the Degrees of Comfort Cooling Weighted Blanket. It includes 2 removable covers for cleaning convenience, and one of the covers has Coolmax technology for hot sleepers, which our son definitely is.

When he was a little boy, we noticed Matt liked to snuggle under an old-fashioned heavy quilt that my step-grandmother gave us.

It applied the same principle of deep pressure stimulation as a commercially produced weighted blanket, but with a lighter amount of weight.

Also, he has always liked the feeling of the heavy vest that you wear for x-rays at the dentist office. He says it makes him feel comfortable and calmer.

There are many factors to consider when choosing the best weighted blanket for your needs, and every year, there are more and more products to choose from.

If you think a weighted blanket may help your sleep or anxiety concerns, I hope the information on this site helps you determine the best one for your needs.

My Background

As well as supporting our son with his needs, I have a B.A. (ed) degree and have worked extensively as a Primary/Elementary Teacher in several schools.

Part of that work included classroom support for children who faced challenges with hyperactive and distracted behavior in the classroom setting.

I have also worked as a Literacy Tutor following the Barton Program for children and adults who struggled to learn to read because of the behavioral and focus challenges they faced in the regular school setting.

Many children and adults benefit from using products such as:

These items help them to overcome some of the obstacles to learning and functioning in daily life at school, at home, and in the world at large.

The Benefits of Weighted Blankets

Weighted blankets work well for many people, for a number of conditions, including:

And, there are many people who find weighted blankets help their daily productivity by supporting good rest at night.

They don’t have a specific condition or label, just the desire for better sleep. Athletes even use them for recovery after training.

I hope the information we provide here about weighted blankets and other products is beneficial for your decision making.
